It was fantastic to visit our client, FISCUS, at their offices in Hendon.

FISCUS is a multi-faceted charity that has helped a vast number of disadvantaged members of the Sunderland community. With an 8-strong staff team, and 30 volunteers, it is an independent Advice and Crisis charity.  Amongst its roles, FISCUS provides advice and support on a whole range of issues to people who are facing a range of often complex difficulties such as financial crisis, mental health, addictions or homelessness.  FISCUS offers direct support working in partnership with various specialist agencies.

As well as operating a foodbank in Hendon, FISCUS also attends 14 weekly foodbanks in Sunderland and Newcastle to provide welfare benefits advice, debt advice and emergency support for people facing crisis or hardship.

Torgersens is proud of its long association with organisations operating in the Third Sector. We advise and support a great many charities and we salute the work they do. What they all have in common is truly remarkable people, whose involvement is often driven by either personal experience or, simply, a deep sense of wanting to ‘put back’.

This year, staff at our Sunderland office have really stepped up to the mark to support FISCUS and its Christmas Campaign by donating more than 40 presents to be given to four children in Wearside. This is part of a huge Christmas operation by FISCUS in which it will distribute thousands of gifts to over 700 vulnerable people in our communities, including children, young people OAPs and the homeless.

We want to thank our colleagues at the Sunderland office for their marvellous generosity and we wish all the staff at FISCUS and its amazing volunteers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
